APPRENTICESHIP & VOCATIONAL TRAINING
Hands in Service has been engaged in apprenticeship and vocational training since the early 1980’s. The Jubilee Apprenticeship Program provides hands-on experience to disadvantaged youths from the community, training them so they are equipped with the necessary skills for employment. It is a one year program that includes welding and metal fabrication, auto and motorcycle maintenance, an introduction to organic farming techniques, and daily encouragement in the spiritual disciplines. We were humbled and encouraged this year to learn that 100% of the 11 graduates from our 2012 class are currently employed! This is quite a contrast to the local education systems, even among the universities, that produce many graduates who languish in unemployment. The Jubilee Apprenticeship Program operates a full service custom metal fabrication workshop that produces gates, doors, windows, water tanks, and a host of custom metal repair work and small engine mechanical repair services.
